Remember last week when I introduced you to Lorna Jane? I took her book with me last weekend to the Bachelorette party and while I (predictably) got NO reading done during all the single-hood send-off festivities, I poured through the rest of it on the flight home.
{and then fiiiiinally got past chapter 2 in 50 Shades of Gray. I’m officially drinking the kool aid. PS –thanks for the warning – not the best plane read}.
aaaaand I digress – per ushe.
Move, Nourish, Believe
The Fit Woman’s Secret Revealed
SPOILER ALERT! I’m giving a copy away!
So I kinda.sorta.fell.in.hearts.with.Lorna.Jane.last.week.
And after reading this book, I’m swooning even more. Because she’s the fittest, healthiest, most passionate person alive?
Nope. Hardly. Don’t get me wrong — She’s Fit. She’s Healthy. and She’s Certainly Passionate.
I’m swooning because she’s real. Like everyday real, like you and me real, like a woman with dreams, goals, imperfections and lots of realities – real.
So as would be fitting, her book is a reflection of who she is and how she approaches her life. Throughout she offers fantastic tips and advice on how to get moving, stay motivated, eat well and stay balanced.
I have summarized a few of my favorite tips and how they resonated with me.
MOVE: Say It Out Loud
Trying to reach a new goal? Say it out loud. Tell as many people as possible. By sharing your goal, you hold yourself to a higher level of accountability… Embarrassed about the possibility of not meeting that goal? That’s probably the perfect reason why you SHOULD tell people about your plan. I have mentioned this goal for Chicago more than a few times. It’s out there, I’m loud. Time to get after it.
NOURISH: Nourish Your Spirit
Nourishing your body is more than leafy greens, fruits, 8 glasses a day and fueling properly – it’s about taking care of your spirit and making room in your busy life to do the things that make you feel happy. Reading, Yoga, Cooking, Dreaming, Creating — What nourishes your spirit? Creating and Cooking are some of my favorite ways to give my spirit a little TLC.
Lorna Jane offers some really amazing, seasonally themed recipes in her book that I’m DYING to make…as I try them, I will post recipes here.
L-R Spiced Date Slices, Cherry and Pork Salad, Passionfruit and Apple Crumble
BELIEVE: Set Your Goals Higher and Higher
You and I make conscious choices each and every day. We choose what to wear, what to eat, to move or not to move, and we choose to be nice or to be a total b*.
Often, for a variety of reasons, we make excuses and we make decisions that go against our belief systems. Challenge yourself to aim higher. Think about your life — and what you want it to be — and take the small steps each day to get there.
Make the choice because the life, or job, or body, or relationship you want will not “just appear” one day.
The outcome you’re looking for is not fated– it requires your focus, setting goals and making choices. As Lorna Jane says, “To get where you want to go, you simply need to commit yourself to the finish line, and then work backwards, setting more realistic goals to celebrate along the way”
These are just a few of my favorite tips from this book. She also shares her remarkable journey in launching her activewear brand and her path to extraordinary success Moving, Nourishing and Believing each day.
Lorna Jane has generously allowed me to give away a copy of her book to one of you! To enter, leave a comment telling me what your favorite piece is from Lorna Jane’s activewear line and what area you would like motivation – Moving, Nourishing or Believing.

And I like Lorna Jane on FB
And of the 3 things — the “Believing” is where I need the most motivation. The movement and nourishing is a domino effect for me, every day I get it done makes me want to do it again the next day and so on. But the “Believing”? While I can talk up everyone else around me, I end up doubting myself and talking myself out of my own success. Pretty backwards, huh.

I love the ElisaDay Hooded top – such awesome clothes and the book sounds like something that I really could use to inspire me!
Whenever anyone says they pored over a book, I know it must be a good read. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I saw her stuff at the recent IDEA convention and it was great. OH, my favorite piece is the Maxivate jacket in white w/ the pink stitching. I’d be Believe.
Favorite piece from the Lorna Jane clothing line: being a runner and living in Seattle; it has to be the Pasha Hi-Tech Jacket. Breathable, reflective and hooded–what more can a runner girl ask for
I am looking for some motiviation in the are of “Nourish”.

BELIEVING – Even though I’ve run a couple of half marathon’s and am training for my first full (YIKES!) I can psyche myself out thinking of all the miles & the training that need to be built into my already full schedule.
My motto for the next few months: Suck it up, buttercup! I’ve put my goal out there, and every day am trying to make the choice to believe I can do it!

I love that her clothes not only style and spunk, but they let you truly move and live fit – I wear her pants and tops to the gym AND to do my healthy food shopping and even for plane travel. And as a personal trainer and fitness instructor who has seen far too many students who do not “nourish” or “believe” in themselves, her message is truly Badass! Love it.
